The reason behind your action leads to misery or joy.

We are an action-oriented culture. Getting things done is akin to earning your right to live. It’s easy to base our self-worth on what we’ve accomplished that day. But checklists and schedules aren’t the ultimate boss. Getting a lot done doesn’t matter, unless we’re acting in sync with the Holy Spirit.

Our soul is speaking to us, letting us know what action to take and how to prioritize. When we do things according to an inner nudging, we’re following God’s plan, not ours. There’s a peace as we progress down the list. We may not know if or how we’ll get everything done, but we know why we are taking the action. We are taking it because God’s whispering right to our soul, helping create the to do’s and helping us cross them off.

When we take action that’s congruent with our soul, we feel refreshed and energized. Instead of rushing or worrying about what we won’t accomplish, we rest as we work, enjoying the pace set by God.

Next time you feel overwhelmed or behind schedule, pause. Go within, to the quiet yet powerful voice. Prioritize actions that feel soul driven, and notice how enjoyable the process can be. Regardless of whether you get it all done, a deep sense of peace will surround you. You’ve given up control and taken guidance from God, the ultimate scheduler.

Well done, Soulshine! Enjoy the Creator’s hand in your calendar. xo, Amanda
