Enjoy your best season with the key to delight.

Do you know what you want? I’ll bet I do; pure, uncomplicated delight. Tell me that doesn’t sound just right. After quarantine, politics, global shifts, tirades and rifts, can we just have simplicity and fun?

The key is so close that we often miss it. It’s so easy to use, we rarely use it. Cliched to the shelf for a “maybe later” day. Here’s the thing though; if we sow it, we reap this pure, uncomplicated delight.

Rudyard Kipling, plus countless other smarties, have said, “Teach us delight in simple things.” Find joy in basic moments, interactions, wind gusts, and bright blue summer skies. The simplest things yield the richest delight.

Why? Because if you’re able to appreciate simple delights, you’re in a gratitude mindset, and appreciating basic, often mundane and overlooked experiences. My God, we’ve got 6 senses sending us glorious input at any given moment. Right now my boys are arguing, but I also hear a Barred Owl hooting its nocturnal magic. I tune my ears toward the latter.

Soon the owl will fly on, my kids will get along, and I’ll forget about this night. But the owl’s beautiful song will stay with me. Keep your focus on delight, through the noise and distraction of anything else. You’ll find it in more places, spaces and times.

For your best summer ever, chase and catch delight like a firefly. Then, let it go, open your hands, and catch the next one. It’s that simple.

Rooting for you, Soulshine!
